Overview

A 3-day, 2-night programme for those who want Cappadocia without the rush. What sets it apart from our 2-day tour: Konya and the Mevlana Tomb join the route, the valley walks get real time, and you spend two nights half-board in Ürgüp.

Day 1: departure at 04:30; a photo and breakfast stop in the Taurus (day-one breakfast not included). In Konya you visit the Mevlana Tomb and the Sultanhanı caravanserai; after a lunch stop in Aksaray comes the Tatlarin underground city and church (entry ~€2). Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: at dawn, those who wish transfer to the balloon field (extra — to fly or to watch). After breakfast: a 2 km walk in Devrent Valley, a ceramics workshop, Çavuşin and the church of St John, a walk along the Kızılırmak in Avanos, Love Valley, and the Göreme, Uçhisar and Pigeon Valley panoramas. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3: after breakfast, an onyx workshop and a local produce shop, a stop at the Tepesidelik caravanserai, lunch in Konya and the drive home; you are at your hotel around 18:00.

Day 1 — Konya and arrival in Cappadocia

A Taurus stop, the Mevlana Tomb, the Sultanhanı caravanserai and the Tatlarin underground city; the evening at the hotel.
Day 2 dawn — the balloon field (optional)

A dawn transfer to fly or watch the balloons (extra).
Day 2 — the day of the valleys

A 2 km walk in Devrent, a ceramics workshop, Çavuşin and St John's, the Kızılırmak at Avanos, Love Valley, and the Göreme, Uçhisar and Pigeon Valley panoramas.
Day 2 evening — rest at the hotel

Dinner at the hotel; the optional Turkish night with dervishes (extra).

How does it differ from the 2-day tour — which should I pick?

The 3-day tour adds Konya (the Mevlana Tomb, the caravanserais), leaves real time for valley walks and gives you two balloon mornings. The 2-day tour covers the main landmarks at a denser pace with one night in a 4-star hotel. With time to spare choose 3 days; if time is tight, 2 days is right.

Which meals are included?

The two hotel dinners and two breakfasts are included (half board). Day-one breakfast and all three lunches are bought to your own taste at the stop restaurants — budget for roughly three lunches.

Can I see the balloons without flying?

Yes. The morning transfer offers two options: the flight (extra) or watching the balloon parade (for a smaller fee). Sunrise with hundreds of balloons lifting at once is Cappadocia's best photo moment even from the ground.
